Chapter 1

"Leafkit!" Breezepaw was coming up to him frantically. "What?" Leafkit gave him a devoid of emotion look. "Splashclaw wants you for a moment!" Leafkit's spirits rose at the name. "All right." He quickly ran off to the medicine cat den. Once he came in, Splashclaw looked at him, So far the only one who wouldn't jump in surprise was Splashclaw. He sighed but smiled at Leafkit. "So far, your a better medicine cat apprentice than Breezepaw ya'know!" "What do you need help with now?" Leafkit had gone to the medicine cat den to help more than any other cat in camp of course other than Splashclaw so far. "I need you help with Foxpaw and Cloudfurs injuries. Breezepaw kept giving me the opposite of what I wanted." Leafkit nodded and went over to Foxpaws leg and sniffed at the injury. "It's infected. Can you pass me that?" He pointed to the pile of herbs at the edge of the den. "You using this?" He asked as he passed it to Leafkit. "Yes, It'll help with the pain while still getting rid of the infection quicker, you just need to put cobweb on it afterward." He added. Splashclaw looked at him amazed, so did Foxpaw and Cloudfur. "You know more than me by now, and your not even an apprentice yet." Leafkit shrugged but continued healing the leg. Cloudfur continued to stare at him amazed until he flashed her a glance to tell her to stop, which she did immediately. "It's to bad that medicine cat apprentice is already filled, you would've been the next medicine cat for sure." Leafkit scent her a glare for that. "You know I'm both good at stalking, fighting, and herbs. I wouldn't be able to fight if I was medicine cat." That earned him a glare from Foxpaw, but he got those a lot from him anyway. He sighed. "You know what I mean Foxpaw." Foxpaw shrugged and looked away. "How your still a kit I will never know. Your like a grown up tom inside, but still a kit on the outside." "He'll be an apprentice soon, but then he'll be more like a medicine cat and a warrior combined at that point." Splashclaw noted out loud. "We'll see about that, now wont we?" Blackscar said as she walked into the medicine cat den. "Spotted the ones who did this yet?" Leafkit questioned immediately, know if he didn't she'd be here forever. "Now, now, you know were trying our hardest to find out who did it, including the bordering clan since their being attacked also." Leafkit sighed. "At this point, the bordering clan is going to blame the attacks on us, and into battle we'll go." Foxpaw tried to get up but winced at the pain. "Sit down. It'll take less time if you rest." Leafkit said at he finished on Cloudfur. "But they have no evidence!" Cloudfur yelped in worry. "So what? They'll come up with something, they will, just watch!" Leafkit growled back before stalking out of the medicine cat den, being done with work. "Sometimes I think he's his father re-made, don't you, Splashclaw?" Blackscar nodded "Indeed, he's almost exactly the same, same eyes,same personality, same everything. I wonder when he'll figure out that he's not Owlfangs son?" Cloudfur watched Leafkit walk off before commenting, "Who knows? He may have already figured it out." Foxpaw looked confused. "Owlfang's not his father?" Blackscar chuckled. "No Foxpaw, he is not. Leafkit's father was killed a moon before you became an apprentice, the same time as when Lightkit, Treekit, and Soaringkit were born, he was born almost a few minutes after them, luckily, we were able to slip him in with the kits, making them think they are his siblings." "Who's his real parents?" Splashclaw frowned at this and reluctantly spoke up. "I'm his real father, but his mother I'd rather someone else tell you instead of me." Foxpaw looked surprised, but then again, a medicine cat's son? A sigh escaped Blackscar. "His mother was a very pretty she-cat named Rainfeather. She came from the enemy clan, buts since it was the enemy clan, she tried to escape from her clan and come over to OakClan, but... All we found was her kit, Leafkit. We don't know if she's alive or dead." With a sigh, Splashclaw nodded and turned to Foxpaw. "Don't tell him, and you should be fine now, go back to your den and rest though." They all left Splashclaw in the den, thinking, "Is she alive?"

Prologue

Hawkstar walked through the clearing to the meeting place, Redfang following him right behind. "Today I'd like to announce the arrival of four new kits. Welcome to Oakclan, Leafkit, Soaringkit, Lightkit, and Treekit!" Owlfang's proud gaze was not unnoticed by his clan mates as they congratulated him and his mate. "As for other news, Rouges have been scented near the border. I'd like more patrols on the border there, and as for apprentices, be careful, and I suggest you take another apprentice if you go out to hunt or walk." With that, he pounced off the ledge and started to walk towards his den. "Owlfang! Congrats on the new kits!" Silvertail and her sister Cloudfur started to walk towards him. "Thanks, but I need to go hunting, were running low." Silvertail gave him a playful flick of the ear. "Geez, even when your kits are born all you think about is the clan's needs. Take a break, me and Cloudfur can go hunting instead." Owlfang had a doubtful look but nodded and went to the nursery. "Mistybreeze's kit, Ashkit was annoying her mother by talking to much, and Soaringkit was watching Leafkit contentedly. "He's not opened his eyes yet?" Lightkit jumped at the sound of Owlfang's voice behind her. "Yeah, he's such a meany! He won't wake up to play with us yet!" Soaringkit seemed unfazed by Owlfangs arrival so sudden. "It will take him time, let him sleep for now Soaringkit." Bluewhisker's tired mew spoke up. "Your the one who needs to sleep." Bluewhisker just smiled and looked back at Leafkit. "I wanna see what color his eyes are first." Lightkit sighed and shook her head, tired of her mothers stubbornness. Treekit just layed down next to Leafkit and closed his eyes. Soaringkit quickly took the other side of Leafkit and looked at Owlfang. "I thought you needed to go hunting?" Owlfang sighed. "Silvertail and Cloudfur won't let me and say I need to rest." Soaringkit smirked amused. "Your just like mother, stubborn." Lightkit snorted and the comment and went to sit at Treekit's side. "Lets just hope you don't become as stubborn as them." Soaringkit leaped at Lightkit and tackled her as she squeaked with surprise. "Cut it out! Your making to much noise!" Soaringkit jumped in surprise as Leafkit spoke out. Lightkit took the advantage and ran over to Treekit. She smirked. "So far he's the only one able to make you jump in surprise." "Sh-shut up Lightkit!" He stuttered in surprise. Leafkit's voice had a scary tint in it that made him jump in fright. Treekit looked him in the eyes in understanding, he had flinched when he heard Leafkit also. "Oh my, first one is it?" Ashkit tormented at Treekit. "Shut it Ashkit!" He snarled at her. She smirked. "So, you've got green eyes huh?" "Oh, my, he does, and vibrant green eyes at that!" Mistybreeze looked up from watching Ashkit. Blackscar walked into the nursery with an almost scary sad expression. "What's the matter Blackscar?" Owlfang looked worried. "Its Cloudfur... She's injured very badly." "What happened?!" Both Mistybreeze and Bluewhisker shouted. "Rouges." Was the only reply they got before Blackscar walked out of the nursery, Leafkit's eyes following her every move.
